Barons De Rothschild Lafite Caro 2019 (0,75 L)

The CARO is a collaboration between Nicolas CAtena and ROthschild (the first two initial letters form the name CARO). The distinctive Argentine character goes back to the Malbec grape. The addition of Cabernet Sauvignon also gives it elegance and complexity. This creates a magnificent and refined wine that balances the Argentine charisma with the style of Bordeaux wines.

The strong red color of this wine reflects with purple nuances in the glass. The bouquet has rich, fresh fruit aromas of red and black fruits (especially red currants and blackberries) and is rounded off by mint and cedar wood. The bouquet is expanded with notes of vanilla, spices and mocha (typical of French oak) and floral and dried fruity nuances.

This Argentine red wine has a dense, well-structured and complex mouthfeel with mature tannin structure, good length and a full medium palate. The persistent finesse of the tannins gives this drop its good length and pleasant, soft mouthfeel.

Vinification

The Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested by hand and immediately brought to the wine cellar of Bodegas Caro. There, the readings are strictly selected and prepared for the fermentation process. The mash is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. At maturity, this red wine is placed in wooden barrels for 18 months - 60% of which are new wood.

Food recommendation

We recommend this dry red wine from Argentina with dark braised meat dishes, duck, lamb, game and matured cheese and hard cheese. Before consumption, this wine should be decanted for at least 2 hours.
