In Veneto (Northern Italy), the four towers of Corteforte were built in the 15th century at the strategically important point of Osan in the Fumane valley to give early warning of approaching armies threatening Verona. Later, in the 17th century, it was taken over by the Verona estate. Today, only one bastion remains, which was renovated in the 1980s and given to the local tourism centre and the town's most famous winery, Corteforte.
By choosing two harvest times, the winery strives to bring the best grapes according to their philosophy to the cellar. The first provides acids and fruit aromas, the second provides body, good tannins, and significant alcohol. Every year, after the harvest, the new wine is aged in steel tanks until April, then transferred to the pomace left over from the Amarone production, where it acquires its final taste, characteristic only of the region, using the Ripasso technique.
