Essencia is the most concentrated juice from the world's most mature grapes. This "liquid gold" is obtained in very small quantities from hand-picked aszú berries, which shrivel due to the combined effect of botrytis, sunshine, and gentle air circulation.

In 2016, the winter was dry and mild, with no severe frosts. Budburst in the vineyard started excellently, with plenty of sunshine but cool nights. The flowering period was unusually long and sometimes cool, resulting in uneven fruit set in some places. Early summer showed excellent quality yields, but July and August brought a lot of rain, reducing the quantity of the crop but favoring the development of botrytis.

In September and October, our experienced pickers carefully selected the highest quality aszú berries. This labor-intensive process requires our pickers to hand-select each aszú berry, collecting an average of only 5 kg per day.

Towards the end of October, the weather became humid and wetter, ending the harvest period, which practically resulted in a smaller quantity of exceptional quality produce.

In this instance, the free-run must from the aszú berries was collected only from the first generation of aszú berries. The very slow alcoholic fermentation occurred spontaneously.

After bottle aging, the Essencia became deep golden, with a slightly amber hue. Its aroma opens quickly – a complex botrytized scent, with notes of medlar, rosehip jam, peach, and pear. Its taste is rich and complex, with candied fruits, complemented by dogwood and lemon balm. Balanced, with endless freshness and fruitiness, where the high acidity balances its sweetness and contributes to a long finish.

It is recommended to consume with a crystal spoon.
