Aldo Vaira took over the management of the family vineyards in 1968, at the tender age of 15. Today, G.D. Vajra is one of the most recognized estates in the Piedmont region, farming organically over 150 hectares, mainly in their areas around the village of Barolo. In addition to Aldo and his wife Milena, their children Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro have also joined the family business. While three Barolo wines from prominent and high-altitude areas (MGA) are at the pinnacle of the Vajra offering, it is the Barolo Albe that best represents the winery's elegant, unique style from high-altitude areas, providing consistent quality at an attractive price. Different parcels from elevations between 381 and 483 meters above sea level were macerated for one to three months, then aged for 26 months in 4000, 5000, and 7500-liter Slavonian oak barrels. A magically elegant and exciting wine, the essence of a special terroir.
