Collazzi – Elegance, Terroir, Precision

The wines of Tenuta Collazzi represent a harmonious balance between classical Tuscan winemaking tradition and a contemporary, precision-driven approach. Located just outside Florence, the estate benefits from distinctive geological and climatic conditions. Careful varietal selection, micro-parcel cultivation, and deliberate aging strategies contribute to the production of structured, characterful wines with significant aging potential.

The following selection highlights the estate’s most emblematic wines, labels that embody the Collazzi identity not only in style, but in philosophy.

1. Ferro 2021 – A Grand-Scale Tuscan Interpretation of Petit Verdot

Ferro is a single-varietal Petit Verdot—an exceptional rarity in the region. It originates from a one-hectare, southwest-facing vineyard with clay-limestone soils that ensure optimal water retention and balanced phenolic ripening.

The wine is aged for 30 months in 100% new French oak, followed by six months of bottle aging. The result is a deep purple color, dense texture, and outstanding acid-tannin balance. Its aromatic profile is complex: sour cherry, sherry, dried orange peel, eucalyptus, and green pepper. On the palate, it is concentrated and long-lasting, with an elegant, persistent finish. Ferro is both a technically accomplished wine and a reference point for a terroir-driven reinterpretation of the variety.

2. Collazzi 2022 – The Estate’s Iconic Flagship Blend

The estate’s signature cuvée is composed of four varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Each is vinified separately, aged for 18 months in barrique (50% new), and matured for an additional 12 months in bottle.

Its structure and aromatic complexity position it firmly within the premium category. Aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, cedar, and spices are followed by a palate supported by a vibrant acidity and finely grained tannins. As typical for Collazzi, the wine is not varietally driven but rather defined by structure and balance—a timeless bottle that faithfully expresses its terroir.

3. Libertà 2023 – A Modern Blend with a New-Generation Style

Libertà is the estate’s entry-level premium blend, composed of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Though sourced from younger vines, strict yield control ensures pronounced primary fruit expression.

The wine is fresh and vibrant, with aromas of red berries, sweet spices, and a hint of pepper. On the palate, it shows medium body and well-integrated acidity. Designed with the modern consumer in mind, Libertà is ideal for early enjoyment while still offering depth and a clear sense of place.

4. Bastion 2023 – A New Perspective on Chianti Classico

Bastion is composed of 80% Sangiovese, with Merlot and Malvasia Nera lending additional nuance and textural depth. The grapes are grown within the Chianti Classico DOCG, on shallow, mineral-rich soils.

The wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of new and used French oak barriques supporting structure without masking varietal expression. Aromas of cherry, rose, subtle tobacco, and earthy notes dominate the nose. On the palate, it is lively and taut, with a medium-bodied core and a long, clean, linear finish. Bastion offers a reimagined take on classic Chianti familiar, yet refreshingly contemporary.

5. Otto Muri 2023 – Fiano, Rarely Seen in Tuscany

Otto Muri is the only white wine in the portfolio, though it is far from a secondary offering. Composed entirely of Fiano, it comes from eight terraced plots characterized by balanced microclimates and low yields.

Fermentation occurs partially in stainless steel and partially in oak barrels, followed by fine lees aging. This preserves the grape’s varietal aromas while imparting a creamy texture and depth. The bouquet features tropical fruits—mango, lime, peach—while the palate offers pronounced saline-mineral notes and a vibrant, well-integrated acidity. Otto Muri is a signature “white label” wine, showcasing what Fiano can achieve when precision meets terroir.

Wines That Speak a Global Language

The wines of Tenuta Collazzi are more than expressions of Tuscan tradition—they are forward-thinking, terroir-driven concepts that authentically merge classical style with the evolving demands of modern wine consumers.

Each label in the portfolio reflects thoughtful vineyard management, precise winemaking, and a long-term vision. This is not trend-driven winemaking—it is a strategically positioned viticultural philosophy. Every bottle contributes to the future of Tuscan wine.
