The story of the Mildiani Family Winery dates back to 1991, when four brothers, driven by their shared passion, founded their own winery. Their mission has remained unchanged ever since: to honor Georgia’s millennia-old winemaking traditions while blending them with modern technological solutions. From the very beginning, the founders’ professional dedication set the course for the business, quickly turning Mildiani into a key player in the Georgian wine industry.

A Pioneering Initiative in Ceramic Bottle Winemaking

The economic and market transformation of the post-Soviet era opened up many new opportunities for winemakers. Recognizing this, the Mildiani brothers established a bottling plant in the town of Mtskheta, which also included a ceramics workshop. This was the first facility in the region to commercially release wine bottled in traditional clay qvevris. This innovation not only served to preserve historical winemaking techniques but also contributed to their rediscovery and international promotion.

Modern Winemaking in the Heart of Historic Kakheti

Today, the Mildiani winery operates in one of Georgia’s most renowned wine regions, in the Tsinandali microzone of Kakheti. The estate is home to a modern winery equipped with cutting-edge Italian technology, allowing for the production of premium-quality wines. The entire vineyard area is family-owned, ensuring that every step of the winemaking process—from vine cultivation to bottling—remains under strict quality control.

Mildiani wines combine the unique character of traditional Georgian grape varieties with a European winemaking approach. Among their outstanding selections, three wines are especially noteworthy and also available in Hungary:

  • Saperavi "Qvevri" 2018 – A dry red wine with deep color and a firm yet elegant tannin structure. It showcases the noble side of the Saperavi grape, making it an excellent choice for lovers of full-bodied reds.

  • Kisi "Qvevri" 2017 – A dry white wine with fresh, mineral, and floral notes, offering a complex yet light flavor profile. Its unique character is shaped by traditional clay vessel fermentation.

Family Values and Dynamic Growth

Today, Mildiani has grown into a multi-company group that continues to expand. In addition to winemaking, the group also produces various other wine-related products. The foundation of the enterprise lies in the unity of the brothers and the expertise passed down through generations. These values are reflected not only in the quality of their wines but also in the community spirit of the winery.

Mildiani is more than just a winery—it is a living legacy, a family business that actively shapes Georgia’s wine culture, building the future through a seamless blend of tradition and innovation.
