KLEINE ZALZE Family Reserve Shiraz 2018 (0,75 L)

The barrel-aged Shiraz Family Reserve from the Coastal Region winegrowing region reveals a dense purple red in the glass. If you hold the glass at an angle, you can see a transition of the colour towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. If one swivels the wine glass, then this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which shows itself in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. Poured into a red wine glass, this red wine from South Africa shows wonderfully expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, mulberry and blackberry, rounded off by gingerbread spice, lovage and toasted barrique contributed by the ageing in wooden barrels.

On the palate, the Shiraz Family Reserve from Kleine Zalze starts off pleasantly aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. On the tongue, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense and velvety texture. Due to its present fruit acid, the Shiraz Family Reserve is impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this matured red wine from the wine-growing region Coastal Region, more precisely from Stellenbosch, finally convinces with a remarkable reverberation.

The basis for the powerful Shiraz Family Reserve from the Coastal Region are grapes from the Shiraz grape variety. After harvesting, the grapes are taken to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the Shiraz Family Reserve is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
